GET INVOLVED

WE COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT VOLUNTEERS!

Many in our community face the harsh reality of living without adequate shelter. Our Warming Center is a vital lifeline, offering warmth, safety, and comfort to those who need it most. But we can’t do it alone. We need compassionate, dedicated volunteers to help us open our doors and hearts to those in need.

Whether you can give a few hours or several days, your time can make a world of difference. Join us in creating a warm and welcoming environment. Your support will bring hope to those in need.

Make a difference and volunteer today.

How can you help?

Volunteer Shifts

Volunteer Shifts

We offer two shift options for volunteers.

PM Shift (6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.): As a PM Shift volunteer,  you’ll be a welcoming presence for our guests as they arrive, helping to serve meals and create a comforting atmosphere for the evening ahead. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our guests feel safe, respected, and ready for a restful night.

AM Shift (5:30 A.M. - 8:00 A.M.):  For the early risers, the AM Shift is a chance to start our guests’ day with kindness. You will help with the morning routine, wake-up, and clean-up, ensuring a positive start to our guests' day.

Meal Volunteer

Volunteer Shifts

Volunteer Shifts

Our guests are welcomed with a warm meal daily, generously provided by local restaurants and dedicated volunteers. We coordinate volunteers to prepare home-cooked meals for approximately 60–70 individuals (about 7 (9 by 13) pans).

Here is how it works:

  • Drop off meals by 6 p.m. the day you signed up for
  • SCWC volunteers will reheat the meal (we have a full kitchen onsite)
  • SCWC provides serving utensils, cutlery, and plates.

If you have a passion for cooking and a heart for serving the community, we invite you to join us in this essential role.

Understanding the Warming Center Community

Volunteer Commitment:

Volunteers must be 18 years or older.

A volunteer shift supports and serves our guests. Shift options are 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M., and 5:30 A.M. – 8:00 A.M. We ensure no volunteer works alone.

Operational Schedule:

We provide our services from December to April, opening our doors from 6:30 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. daily.

Guests are welcome to arrive between 6:30 P.M. and 7:45 P.M. Post 7:45 P.M., entry is restricted to those with a police referral. Re-entry is not permitted for guests who leave after 7:45 P.M.

A nurturing warm meal is served, courtesy of various organizations, families, and local restaurants.

Mornings start at 5:30 A.M. with a wake-up call and simple breakfast items for our guests.
